Barranquilla is known as the golden gate of Colombia because in the 19th century it served as a gateway into the country for passengers and merchandise.
Barranquilla was also a pioneer of commercial aviation in 1919. The capital of the Atlantic is distinguished by the republican architecture in the neighborhood of El Prado, as well as its museums, beaches and festivals. In the surroundings, tourists can visit other natural attractions, streams and swamps.
